1st day of School 2009

This year Grayson will be starting Jr. High, can you believe it? He is going to be changing classes and have 7 different periods. He has decided to try out football and give soccer a break for the fall.

Graham will be going into 3rd grade and is going to the same school as Calvin this year. Calvin is in 4th grade. They will both be either riding their bikes or scooters to school.

Everyone was nervous about their first days, but they all came home with smiles on their faces.

I will let Dad drive me to the bus stop, BUT DON'T Get Out and NO PICTURES!

We're on our way, It is 1 mile to school.

Penna Maria Letterbox

On our way to Port Aransas we stopped at a small town to find a letterbox. While we were there the care taker of the cemetery came through and gave us a short history lesson of all his ancestors.

On October 24, 2004 Lech Walensa, Solidarity leader and former Prime Minister of Poland visited Panna Maria, Texas to celebrate the town's 150th anniversary. Panna Maria, founded by Polish immigrants in 1854, is located just off Hwy 123 between Stockdale and Karnes City.

To find the Solidarnosc letterbox, go to the Panna Maria cemetery. Under a cluster of live oak trees look for the tombstone of little Elzbieta, age 4 1/2. Atop this tombstone is a statue of a little girl. The statue is looking at the hiding place of the letterbox, about 10 steps away.

Visit with Adam

I know this has been a while, but here are a couple of good pictures of Grandmother and Adam.

TIFT (Texas International Fishing Tournament)

Pat, Phil, Greg and I joined the TIFT , which was at the end of July. We caught lots of fish. Tuna, Shark, Amber Jack, Ling, King and several other kinds of fish I don't remember. The picture on the King fishes head is my BIG fish. A shark took off 3/4 of his body before I got him to the boat. Phillip caught a 8 foot 200lb shark. It took 4 men about 1 & 1/2 hours to get it to the boat. Just as it came to the top where we could see it, the line broke.

More Letter boxing

These were found in New Braunfels.

Letter boxing

This summer we have gotten involed in letter boxing. THese are boxes which are hidden all over the US and even in other countries. There is a site you go to and can get directions to wherever they are located. Here are some that we found this summer. On the way back from Haskel we stopped at one in Hunt, Tx which was a replica of Stone Hinge. These stones are 60% the size of the actual Stone Hinge.

Visiting Haskel

In June we went for a visit to Haskel!
While in Haskel we went to visit Papa. The boys always have a good time playing with all the residents.

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July camping and playing at Canyon lake!
